Hacking Akkermansia: The Keystone Bacteria Critical to Gut Health and Longevity with Insights from GI-MAP

Join us as Kara Fitzgerald, ND, IFMCP, and Tom Fabian, PhD, CNTP, discuss the keystone commensal biomarker, Akkermansia muciniphila, and how it impacts gut health and longevity.

Akkermansia muciniphila plays a role in gut health, blood sugar regulation, GLP-1 production, gut-brain health, and more.

Dr. Fitzgerald will dive into the research surrounding this exciting marker and discuss how clinicians should address high and low levels of Akkermansia seen on the GI-MAP’s quantitative report.

Watch to learn:

  • Why Akkermansia is a keystone strain for health as we age
  • The connection between Akkermansia and metabolic health
  • How to tailor supplement and dietary protocols for patients using results from GI-MAP

When you combine the GI-MAP stool test and the urine OMX test, a more complete picture of the gut microbiome emerges. It couples direct measurement of gut bacteria, fungi, and parasites in stool (GI-MAP) with the metabolomic fingerprint of the gut microbiota (OMX).

Metabolomic Status

OMX is an advanced organic acids and amino acids profile.
