Microscopic Colitis and Chronic Vaginitis: Case Review With GI-MAP
In this case review, Dr. Ilana Gurevich explores the utility of using the GI-MAP® to uncover factors that contributed to a patient’s 20-year history of unmanaged diarrhea. She reviews a complex case of microscopic colitis and chronic vaginitis, which have been exacerbated by a history of frequent antibiotic use. Previously, the patient explored numerous therapeutic strategies but had not achieved the results she was seeking. Dr. Gurevich uses the GI-MAP to shed light on root causes of these chronic conditions so the patient can finally experience lasting relief and healing.
The case review includes a thorough walkthrough of the patient’s GI-MAP results, including a discussion of significant markers such as Akkermansia muciniphila, Enterobacter spp., Enterococcus faecalis, Steatocrit, and Elastase-1. Treatment options are discussed that help optimize digestion and restore balance to the microbiome.
This case review showcases the value of using the GI-MAP for complex and chronic cases.
