New methods for assessing stress factors and translating them into a patients’ physiological, physical, cognitive and emotional functions are at hand. This two-day meeting features eight thought leaders in stress research and medicine who will describe the interaction of the nervous, immune and endocrine system functions in stress-related disorders and their relationship to specific behaviors and disease outcomes. The context of this discussion will be framed around the new concept of the “exposome,” or how an individual receives information from their lifestyle, diet, microbiome, activity patterns, and physical and social environments. From this framework, you will walk away from the symposium understanding how to apply a personalized approach to the clinical regulation of the exposome and its influence on chronic illness.
